Massachusetts already has a state bird and flower, but now one state representative is calling for a state dinosaur.

Rep. Jack Lewis, of the Seventh Middlesex district, says he's filing legislation on January 15 to declare a state dinosaur, and he's looking for public input on the two choices.

The Podokesaurus Holyokensis was first discovered near Mount Holyoke in 1910 and was a carnivore. The Anchisaurus Polyzelus was first discovered in Springfield in 1855 and was a herbivore.

Lewis says choosing a dinosaur is a good way to help kids learn about the legislative process. Twelve other states already have official dinosaurs.
