WORCESTER, Mass. - Project New Hope spent Saturday collecting and donating food for veterans in need.

As part of the food pantry, the nonprofit collected nonperishable food items, and handed them out to former service men and servicewomen completely free.

The pantry also offered food and clothing for babies and small children.

Cooper's Hilltop Farm in Leicester donated fresh milk, and Lilac Hedge Farm donated fresh produce.

Project New Hope was able to help 25 veterans, who were able to pull up to the James Street location and pick up food curbside.

"Our veterans are the most deserving people we support. Project New Hope is a wonderful organization,” Food Pantry Manager Debbie Erickson said. “We've just been really lucky with our generous donations from different organizations, different groups that do the food drives for us."

Donations are given out the first and third Saturday each month.

If you are in need, you can schedule an appointment.

They also deliver to veterans unable to leave home.
