BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Lisa Carter has been in the landscaping business since the mid-2000s, but as Christmas gets close, the focus at Lovers Lane Tree Farm becomes a lot more festive.

Carter, the co-owner of the farm, said, “I love working with my hands. I love working with nature.”

She added, “I love Christmas, favorite time of the year.”

She often goes out and cuts snippets from trees to make wreaths.

Carter said, “I’ll make five or six a day and that’s plenty.”

The tree farm sells hundreds of wreaths during the holiday season.

Carter’s business is one of many across the U.S. that makes decorations and those decorations are big business.

According to a Statista report, the Christmas decorations market was valued at over $7 billion in 2023.

Carter said, “I’ll make around 150 [wreaths] each year.”

According to the National Christmas Tree Association, 25 to30 million Christmas trees are sold each year. Carter sells White Pines as Christmas trees at the farm.

Carter said, “What’s fun is when kids come and pick them out and fight over which one they want. Usually they win over mom and dad, because it is about the children and wonder and magic of Christmas.”
