KENTUCKY — With football season just three months away, the conferences for Kentucky’s biggest Division 1 teams have unveiled kick off times for their early season games.

Typically, teams face off against smaller, non-conference programs to rack up a couple of easy wins, develop their skills and build confidence in their players. That’s certainly the case for these Kentucky teams, but there are a few ambitious games woven in as well.

UofL is looking to rebuild with new head coach Jeff Brohm at the helm. They have the chance to start the season with a bang on Friday, Sept. 1 when they play in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against ACC-rival Georgia Tech at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The kick off time for that game is set at 7:30 p.m.

Their 2023 home opener at L&N Stadium will be six days later as Louisville hosts Murray State on Thursday, Sept. 7. They will kick off at 7:30 p.m. against the mighty Racers.

For the first time since 1986, Louisville and Indiana will meet on Saturday, Sept. 16 in a neutral-site contest at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. That game time is set for noon.

The Kentucky Wildcats will launch their 2023 campaign with some more manageable opponents before heading into their grueling conference schedule. They open the season with three consecutive, non-conference home games.

The Cats will play Ball State at Kroger Field on Saturday, Sept. 2. The kick off is slated for noon.

Next, Kentucky hosts a cross-state foe in the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky. The game is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m.

Kentucky will keep up its string of MAC opponents with a matchup against the Zips of Akron on Sept. 16. Kick off for that game is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will look to continue their offensive prowess this season. They will host South Florida on Saturday, Sept. 2 with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

In their second matchup of the season, the Hilltoppers face Houston Christians on Saturday, Sept. 9 with a 6 p.m. start time.

WKU will round out its early season games with their toughest matchup against perennial FCS playoff-contender Ohio State Buckeyes. The game will be played at The Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio and will kick off at 3 p.m.
