BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Former Kentucky lawmaker Wilson Stone has died after a lengthy illness. He was 69.

According to his obituary from the Goad Funeral Home, Stone died Friday at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.

For 12 years, the Scottsville native was a State Representative for the 22nd District and served as the former House Minority Whip. Stone was known for his advocacy with education and agriculture. He was a member of the Allen County School Board for 24 years, served as co-chair of the Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee and served on many other boards and commissions.

In 2019, he announced he would not seek reelection and said he had a brain tumor and was choosing not to run to “prioritize his health and family.”

Gov. Andy Beshear called Stone a “dedicated public servant who worked to better the lives of Kentuckians.” 

 

Stone is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lanna Jo Stone and his daughter Catherine Clemons. Funeral services will be Wednesday at Scottsville Church of Christ. He will be buried at Crescent Hill Cemetery.
