FLORENCE, Ky. — Amber Davis was filling up in Florence on Sunday and said she’s noticed how high gas prices are.
“This is stressful,” Davis said while looking at the pump's screen.

AAA reported on Sunday that the price nationally for a gallon of regular gas was $4.47 and in Kentucky, the average is at $4.235.
She drives to work daily and has to fill up her car a couple of times each week. Davis and many others have said they’re making less non-essential trips to avoid using gas.
“I feel like I have to be more cautious, more mindful of what I’m doing. Just going where I need to go with work, home, grocery store, and that’s it,” she said.
Also filling up on Sunday was Ralph Barwe. He said he thinks there are some factors as to why Davis, himself and everyone else are paying more at the pump.
“I have no idea what makes it go up and down other than economics—supply and demand, one country trying to have leverage over the other country,” he said.
Barwe is proud to be one to budget and spend within his means. Davis said people should take advantage of special discounts and perks offered at gas stations to save their wallet some pain.
“Rewards points, definitely. Go to places where they offer rewards points off the gallon,” she said.
Davis said she’s thinking of the best for the future and wants to see high prices go down.
“It’s a lose-lose situation, but I believe it’ll change soon. I hope it is,” she said.
