LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton and her husband Charlie have tested positive for COVID-19.

The mayor's office released a notice Thursday saying that both the mayor and her husband have received both vaccinations as well as their booster shots.

Charlie Gorton tested positive Wednesday night and Mayor Gorton was positive Thursday morning.  In the release Mayor Gorton said, "We both have mild symptoms. Most fully immunized people who get the virus have relatively mild cases."

The pair says they will follow CDC guidelines and isolate for 5 days, and if their symptoms are resolving, they will then do an additional 5 days of wearing masks when around other people to reduce the risk of infecting anyone.
