COVINGTON, Ky. — Driving through Covington, you may have noticed long lines of cars waiting to get into the Gravity Diagnostics test site. Car after car waiting.

“It’s about two and a half to three hours," Logan Kenney, a patient getting tested said.

Kenney came to the Covington site on Monday because he was exposed to someone with the virus.

“It’s been crazy trying to get through. Either side is just a mess trying to get through honestly. You gotta navigate through. Hard to get through but you gotta do what you gotta do," Kenney said.

Gravity Diagnostics Director of Field Services Jeff Wellens said the long line of cars with people inside needing a COVID test seems to be a recent trend.

“The volumes are just kind of unexpected. We were about 80% higher in volume between the week leading up to Christmas," Wellens said.

People can show up during set hours, no appointment necessary, to one of their locations to get a COVID-19 test. Health professionals are working rain or shine to provide this opportunity to community members in need.

Wellens said they serve a lot of the northern Kentucky population, but Ohio license plates also add to the mix as their reported numbers rise as well.

“In those instances where it’s not fitting to their schedule, we provide them other time periods, that are less busy at the front and back end of these shifts and we have two other sites," Wellens said.

Other test sites include Fort Mitchell and Florence. Test results, depending on the area, will be emailed back to patients in a set amount of time; some even in the same day. More information on testing can be found on their website.

Wellens said that they've received positive feedback from patients so far, despite the long waits. When Spectrum News 1 talked to patients waiting, the mentality seemed to be to just go with the flow.

“It’s just boring but we’re grateful to be able to do it," Candace Hinners said.

She and her husband, Earl, waited over two hours to get tested.

Gravity Diagnostics testing sites will not operate on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
