“My group for after school is the younger kids," said Braxton Sowell, a BGPR recreation staff assistant. "So, I'm doing ice breaker activities to get their brains moving and doing different activities in the gym to keep them active and things of that nature.”

Barren County Family YMCA will have different activities per week, according to Youth Development Director Ben Ralston.

"This week is slime week, so everyday, they are making a different slime," said Ralston. "We still have our safety precautions we're cleaning after every activity doorknobs, tables, floors, everything."

Ralston said that campers will be kept socially distanced as best as possible, and capacity limits have been enforced at both camps.

Despite the masks for all, Sowell said that he is glad to be back with the kids again.

"It’s been a roller coaster, but I don't regret it at all," said Sowell. "It's pretty exciting to have them back, and they are excited to be back, so to have them excited and us be excited, it's nothing but a good vibes."
