LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the heart of Nulu, fans of food and spirits found Rye. A restaurant whose slogan was "Local Eats. American Spirits." Thursday the restaurant announced on its website and social media pages that Saturday, July 25 would be the last hurrah for the Market Street eatery.

In the announcement, the restaurant thanked its many fans who have supported them since they first opened in 2011.

"When we first opened our doors, our goal was to foster a community through food and drink. We put an emphasis on family style dining, creative cocktails, and never sacrificing on quality. We are proud of the work that we have done and the community that we have grown into. That community that supported us from the First Friday Trolly Hops to the Louisville Cocktail Competition; the specialty dinners to the lunch pop ups - and to that first bite of a Sally Lunn roll to start a meal.

Thank you Louisville for embracing us, pushing us, and growing with us."

The restaurant is taking reservations through its final service Saturday and says it will soon have details on one last bar service coming.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the restaurant to close its doors in March and like many other establishments, it has been too hard to rebound or even stay afloat.
