During May, the Louisville-based amusement park submitted a detailed 200-page plan for reopening to officials in the Beshear administration.

Some of the plans call for enhanced sanitizing and cleaning procedures, along with new safety protocols to help fight the potential spread of COVID-19 to guests and workers a the park.

"We will provide a lot of opportunity for hand sanitizing throughout the park. We're going to be wearing face masks as it's safe to do so in our team member group, and we encourage our guests to do that as well," said Lesly Birkner, director of operations for Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay. "We're going to be enforcing, we're all going to be practicing social distancing which we believe we've created a program that makes it very easy to do so. If you have any concerns please just let any one of our 1400 team members know we're here to make sure that you have a safe and fun experience."

It will also cost less to get in the gates at Kentucky Kingdom when the park re-opens for the summer.

General admission prices are being dropped to $29.95 and season tickets, which include free parking, are now $49.95.
