LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Norton Healthcare announced it will begin COVID-19 testing for anyone in the community, making it easier for Louisvillians to find out if they have the virus.

What You Need To Know

  • Norton Healthcare is expanding access to COVID-19 tests in Louisville

  • There are several testing locations, including 15 Norton Immediate Care Centers

  • Results will be available within three to five days

“Now that we have a sufficient supply of test kits, we are eager to open up our testing,” said Russell Cox, president and CEO of Norton Healthcare. “Many people are concerned they may have COVID-19, or may have been exposed, and want to know if they are at risk of passing the infection to others. Giving more individuals access to testing in all parts of our community is important to us.”

Individuals can receive a drive-thru test at the Norton Respiratory Illness Testing Center located on 3101 Poplar Level Road. Appointments can be made online or by calling (502) 861-4611.

Testing is also available at primary and pediatric care provider visits, the 15 Norton Immediate Care Centers and the eight Norton Prompt Care at Walgreens locations. Appointments at these locations can also be made online

Those who schedule appointments will need to have their health insurance card with them while scheduling and at the appointment itself.

Within three to five days after the test, results will be available via MyNortonChart. Those with positive tests will be contacted directly by phone.

“It is important that everyone continues to take appropriate action to minimize transmission of this virus. This includes practicing social distancing, wearing a mask when in public, and practicing proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette,” said Steven Hester, M.D., MBA, division president, provider operations, and system chief medical officer for Norton Healthcare. “There are still false negatives with this test, so even if your test result is negative but you have symptoms or know you have been exposed to someone with confirmed COVID-19, it remains important to self-quarantine for a total of 14 days from exposure or start of symptoms.”
