LEXINGTON, Ky. — As Kentucky slowly starts to reopen, the city of Lexington is making its first steps toward economic recovery.

The Mayor of Lexington, Linda Gorton, and the CEO of Central Bank, Luther Deaton, sent over a blueprint for the Lexington economic recovery plans to the governor's office this week.

“Our economy here in Fayette County was strong before this pandemic struck, and today we are taking the first step to recover that strength,” said Gorton.

The blueprint included a total of 330 recommendations for reopening that will help the economy get back to where it was before the pandemic.

The report was put together over the last two weeks and includes more than 30 meetings and individuals from different sectors of the state such as agriculture, tourism and non-profits.

The mayor is asking for the governor's approval and comments on the plans as the city start to safely reopen over the next couple of weeks.
