House Republicans have passed a budget framework that includes trillions of dollars in cuts.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said essential programs, such as Medicaid will be saved for everyone eligible to receive them.

“Republicans have a basic math problem. And I hate to be the Asian guy, talking about math. But the math just doesn’t add up,” Democratic Rep. David Min, who represents parts of Orange County, said .

While she pays about $500 monthly for a private individual health care program, she said it doesn’t cover everything. She relies on the children’s arm of Medical, California’s version of Medicaid, to pay for his care.

She said whatever the outcome of the final budget, “My son’s life is basically in their hands.”

Speaker Johnson has said he hopes to have a budget to President Donald Trump by Memorial Day.
