LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the Mayor's Hike, Bike and Paddle will be virtual this year, meaning the semiannual event won't be drawing thousands to Waterfront Park this Memorial Day, Mayor Greg Fischer announced.

What You Need To Know

  • Louisville's annual Hike, Bike and Paddle event will be virtual this year

  • The event will go from Memorial Day weekend until June 20

  • Participants can upload photos of themselves completing a healthy lifestyle activity

“Although COVID-19 prevents us from gathering by the thousands for Hike, Bike and Paddle, we still want to celebrate with each other, and focus on great family exercise and fun,” said Fischer. “So instead of bringing thousands to Waterfront Park for one day, our Virtual Hike, Bike and Paddle will take place over our entire city over the course of about four weeks.”

The Virtual Hike, Bike and Paddle is set to begin Memorial Day weekend and go until June 20, 2020. Participants can upload pictures of themselves completing a healthy lifestyle activity, like those traditionally done at Hike, Bike and Paddle, while practicing social distancing.

The photos, which can be taken at home or outdoors, will be shared on social media. Participants are eligible to win a special edition Virtual Hike, Bike and Paddle T-shirt that features a safety stripe for visibility.

There will be additional prizes given away via random drawings, including a coupon giveaway for two bottles of PowerAde Ultra from Coca-Cola redeemable at Valu Market. All winners will be notifed via email.

“Though we cannot gather and exercise as a community right now, we can still – and should – exercise on our own, and share our stories and pictures, and inspire and challenge each other just like we do every time at Hike, Bike and Paddle,” said Fischer.

Registration is online, and participants should include thir T-shirt size.
