Mason Brighton is one of two political reporters based in Louisville. He covers Kentucky politics and people. The native Texan is excited to tell stories all across Kentucky.

Mason came to Spectrum News 1 in March 2022 as a multimedia journalist from CBS-Affiliate KAUZ News in Wichita Falls, Texas. One year later, in March 2023, he was promoted to political reporter.
During his time in Texas, Mason reported on both local news and weather, covering everything from state elections to agriculture. He also chased tornadoes across the Great Plains and covered Winter Storm Uri extensively.
Before joining KAUZ News, Mason studied at the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 2019 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in German. Mason is from the Dallas, Texas area, growing up just minutes from AT&T Stadium, where he worked for the Dallas Cowboys for several years.
Outside of work, you can find him trying new coffee shops, buying records, or spending time outdoors.
