Evacuations have been lifted for a fire that quickly grew in the San Bernardino National Forest, authorities said Monday.
The fire, dubbed the Radford Fire, was first reported Sept. 5 in the afternoon as burning in heavy timber north of Highway 38 and south of Big Bear.
Authorities were discouraging nonresidents from heading to the location as emergency personnel and equipment were still in the area.
As of Monday afternoon, the fire stood at 1,079 acres and was 65% contained.
There have been no reports of structure damage or injuries.
School resumed Monday after the Bear Valley Unified Schools canceled classes Wednesday and Thursday.
Caltrans also reopened State Route 38 from Mill Creek to Lakewood, which had been closed.
