After a long winter, spring is here, marking the start of a new growing season.
While some areas still wait to see pale green shoots emerge from the ground, or buds begin to open, other parts of the U.S. already are celebrating the rebirth of new life.
Different parts of the country celebrate their famous local blooms each spring. It's time to see what's blooming big near you this spring.
Thanks to the U.S.'s large range of climate zones, many different plants can grow. Regional differences in climate allow for a wide variety of annuals and perennials to flourish better in some parts of the country than others.
Here's what the Ohio Valley is famous for during the spring.
Are you looking for a different way to embrace the start of spring? Kentucky's Lighted Dogwood Trail might be right up your alley, especially night owls.
The 58-year-old tradition takes place annually in the city of Paducah, where residents and local businesses can take part in lighting up their dogwoods or other springtime blooms growing on their property.

The exact dates the lighted trail takes place remain subject to when the blooms begin, but it typically happens during April. Organizers have not announced the dates for this year’s lighted trail, but last year’s event took place from April 12 to 18.
Initially, the trail was only two blocks long, but is now over several miles long, featuring a variety of dogwoods, Japanese maples, weeping cherry trees and other flowering trees and shrubs.

There are plenty of springtime blooms to see in Ohio, but there's one way to capture them all. During April, the Franklin Park Conservatory hosts its annual Columbus Blooms, where it features its many seasonal blossoms.
Visitors can spend the day walking among the daffodils, tulips and pansies, or take in the collection of flowering trees and shrubs throughout the conservatory and Franklin Park itself.
