LEXINGTON, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear has asked President Joe Biden to declare parts of Kentucky as disaster areas because of the extensive flooding.
Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton wants all Fayette County residents to report their flood damage at either their homes or businesses. Gorton hopes with citizen reports, the city will be able to document the local disaster and apply for federal aid.
In a statement sent to Spectrum News 1, Gorton said, “We had some significant flooding in Lexington, especially near the river,” Gorton said. “We want to do everything we can to help those whose homes or businesses were damaged.”
