LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville natives Kaitlin and Nathan Hobbs are about to make a lot of Easter magic for local families, and get some help in return.
"It’s not just our inner circle, it’s the outside community that we haven’t been able to reach out to that’s getting invested in actually helping bring home our child, so that’s really really cool."
They and their friends are filling plastic eggs, 1,700 in all, and hiding them in yards on Easter eve, to raise money for their efforts to adopt a child, which has taken two years so far and the couple says they need to save as much as $54,000 to cover expenses.
"It definitely can be emotionally tough and emotionally draining, and we’re pretty early in it. I mean, we have friends who have been through a whole lot more than us, and it’s beautiful, it’s wonderful, but it’ definitely a process and so we’re definitely taking our time and we’re really appreciative of all the support that we’ve had."
They’ve saved their own money, and for the second year in a row, in exchange for a donation, they’re making this day of togetherness a little more special and starting conversations about adoption…
"They are so prepared and so ready. They have really done all the work, the background work."
Now, dozens of Kentucky children can wake up in wonderment Easter Sunday, as the Hobbs family works closer to making memories with a child of their own.
