LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Elon Musk’s Department of Government and Efficiency website lists a “wall of receipts” to show how much it's saving taxpayers.

Two Kentucky Social Security administrative offices are listed on the site as closed.

What You Need To Know

  • DOGE website lists businesses that are closed and money allegedly being saved

  • Several Kentucky organizations are listed

  • Spectrum News contacted the offices and found people working

  • A Lexington Small Business Administration office listed on the website, has never existed according to the Louisville office

Spectrum News contacted the departments Thursday and spoke to employees who not only answered the phone but confirmed the offices are open.

The website said the SSA office in Campbellsville is a “true termination” and the agency closed the office.

DOGE claims this is a total saving for the government of over $1.2 million. It also said the annual lease for the office was $295,000.

Spectrum News hasn’t been able to confirm the numbers.

The person Spectrum News spoke with in Campbellsville said they were told the main office would stay open, but the hearings office—where residents go in-person if a claim is denied, would be close.

The website also said the Hazard SSA office is a “true termination” and closed.

It lists the total savings as just over $3,000, with an annual lease of over $38,000.

Spectrum News reached out to the Hazard office, and it was open. We are waiting to hear back from a supervisor about any details.

Another office the website claims is a “true termination” and is closed is the Farm Service Agency in Lexington.

The website says the closure saved $917,000 and had an annual lease of $786,000. Spectrum News called the office, and a person answered, indicating workers remain on the job. Spectrum News has requested more information for the agency.

The DOGE website says the Small Business Administration office in Lexington is closed, saving $15,000.

Spectrum News couldn’t find a number for a Lexington office, so we reached out to the SBA in Louisville, which is the district office, for more information. The office told Spectrum News it was unaware of a Lexington office ever being open.
