To celebrate, 24-year-old Chapel Tinius, who is Miss Kentucky, took a trip to Med Center Health. When she arrived, she showed those in the day care her fiddle-playing talents.

“Music is a language that is universal; we can all feel the emotions that music brings," Tinius said.

Tinius came down to perform for those in adult day care services at Med Center Health. The facility provides support for adults who need daily assistance.

“We are all given gifts in some way, shape or form," Tinius said. "We are called to use that in our community, so it’s an honor to give that back.”

National Adult Day Services Week is Sept. 15-21. Allison Cash, recreation therapist for adult day services at Med. Center Health, said it's important to bring awareness to such services.

“These people don’t get to go out in the community a whole lot, so the activities they get here (are) pretty much what they get," Cash said. "We try to make it fun, and I hope that we can continue throughout our program.”

Tinius said it’s an honor to bring that fun and awareness to such a vital program.

"I love the joy it brings to people, the toe taps and the smiling faces, so it means a lot to me to be here," she said.
