BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A Warren County school let out early because of safety concerns.

  • Dozens of concerned parents lined up to get their kids. Many of them confused on what was going on, because of posts they were seeing online

  • Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Department of Education are urging parents to have a conversation with their children about the dangers and consequences of posting threatening messages online

After hearing about the threat, Moss Middle School was placed on lockdown. Warren County sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene quickly.

Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower said, “Our recommendation was to put the school on lockdown. We had units, we had SROs (school resource officers). They began to make sure the school environment was safe as we went through.”

Parent Jordan Grainger said, “I called to make sure they were making proper precautions and thank God they were on lockdown as well.”

At 11:49 a.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office declared everything was safe at the school and administrators dismissed classes early for the day.

Warren County Public Schools Superintendent Rob Clayton said, “We were able to mobilize very quickly in such that parents who do want to come pick their child up, they’re in a position to do so.”

Dozens of concerned parents lined up to get their kids. Many of them were confused about what was going on, because of posts they were seeing online.

Grainger said, “I was terrified, to the point where I was considering, you know, I know I can’t get in, but I was like, ‘Is there an active shooter in the building?’ I called up here to the school, but I know that they can’t give me much information, but it was like my whole life flashed before my eyes.”
