KENTUCKY — On today’s program, we’re sitting down one-on-one with Congressman Andy Barr, R-Ky., of Lexington.
The Republican lawmaker has been serving as the U.S. representative for Kentucky’s 6th congressional district, which covers 16 counties in Central Kentucky, since 2013.
During this segment, Barr, who is a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy slams what he refers to as the “unaffordability of Bidenomics,” citing the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics March 2024 Inflation Report, that revealed the Consumer Price Index has increased by 3.5% over the past year and 19.4% since President Biden took office. This marks the third consecutive month of inflation increase.
“Inflation is a big problem in this country. We’ve seen a 40-year high inflation. Mortgage interest rates that are nearly 8%. My constituents tell me that it’s painful just to go to the grocery, go to the gas pump to fill up their truck, whether it’s paying the rent or if they want to buy a home, it’s too expensive to do so because interest rates are as high as they are right now. All this was preventable. This is an inflation crisis that came on Joe Biden’s watch and was exacerbated by monetary policy errors by the Federal Reserve,” explained Barr.
