LEXINGTON, Ky. — Rack Room Shoes, a partner of Fayette County Public Schools, has honored Northern Elementary School teacher Grace Norton for her "excellence in the classroom."

“It's really important that ... all students here at Northern have another opportunity for some deeper learning,” Norton said. 

A former Northern Elementary School student, she said she wants to help those with English as a second language and add more inclusion and equity in her classroom. 

“To me, it is about equity ... it's about allowing the students to have access to tools and materials they need to engage and enhance their deeper learning that they might not otherwise have," Norton said. 

Norton's recognition earned the elementary school a $10,000 technology grant from Rack Room. The school's resource officer nominated her, and she said she hopes to provide students with tablets.  

She added she's proud of the recognition but is more excited about her students, who will benefit from the grant.
