KENTUCKY — On this week’s In Focus Kentucky program, we’re sitting down with Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, R-Ky.

The Republican was elected by the voters of Kentucky in Nov. 2023 to serve a four-year term as the chief law enforcement officer for the Commonwealth.

During this segment, Coleman shares his takeaways from the recent election cycle and why he believes his background as an experienced prosecutor and career lawyer helped propel him as a first-time candidate to receive more than 750,000 votes on the 2023 general election ballot.

“I will tell you, there’s a heavy weight that immediately I hadn’t felt since I was a United States attorney. And that is executing on the things that you’ve promised. It’s attempting to mitigate the threat to our families that we’re seeing. That’s the reason I ran and so immediately that weight sets on your shoulders as well. And it was very, very important immediately and I, in speaking with the voters at night that I talked about how we were going to execute on mitigating these threats and things I had promised as a candidate,” explained Coleman.

Also during this segment, Coleman shares some of the legislative priorities that he is advocating for from the Kentucky General Assembly.
