BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — It is a winter wonderland in Bowling Green. Snowfall covered the streets and made the roads icy slick.

What You Need To Know

  • Some of the main roads have been cleared of snow, but other side roads remain covered in ice

  • Residents and community groups took the bad weather to X, formerly known as Twitter, with one weather community group saying, “Roads are slicker than a baby whale”

  • Temperatures will probably drop to below 10 degrees Fahrenheit tonight

The people who clear the snow were quick to action. Chris Gravil, an Interstate 65 liaison for Warren County Parks, began blowing snow off the sidewalks at 7:00 a.m.

“We come down here and blow the snow off, or salt or scrape anything that needs to be done,” Gravil said.

According to Gravil, every corner of each street is, “a lot of white, it’s a little late for Christmas, but there’s a blanket of snow everywhere.”

Some of the main roads have been cleared of snow, but other side roads remain covered in ice.

And according to Gravil, this is some of the worst conditions he has seen in his three years of scraping snow.

“It’s not the worst, but it’s the second worst that we’ve had since I’ve been here,” he shared.

Residents and community groups took the bad weather to X, formerly known as Twitter, with one weather community group saying, “Roads are slicker than a baby whale.”

But that didn’t stop some people from enjoying the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Like Wayne Burton, who helped cook a chicken dinner for the holiday out in the cold.

“It’s like a big family dinner. Everybody together, as one big family. Ain’t no disparity or race or anything, just everybody coming together as one,” Burton said.

But as the temperature continues to drop below 10 degrees tonight, Gravil has one piece of advice.

“Stay inside, stay warm, drink hot chocolate, and stay by the fire,” he said.

As temperatures drop below 10 degrees Monday night in Western Kentucky, ice will probably form on the roads.
