Leah and Emmanual Rucker have two children and are expecting a third baby.

"I thought she was going to come earlier; I've been prepared, but she's taken her time," said Leah, a Louisville mother. "It's finally [been] 40 weeks, so hopefully she comes this weekend, and we get a Christmas baby."

The Ruckers went to Change Today, Change Tomorrow's Tribe Time event to learn more about baby food and nutrition. Ancient Roots Holistic Healing and Health offered some dos and don’ts for parents, some of which Leah said she'd incorporate with her baby girl on the way, including feeding her fruits and vegetables.

According to the nonprofit, it began hosting Tribe Time because there was a need among area families to help soon-to-be parents. The nonprofit hosts Tribe Time the third Saturday of every month, with the most recent taking place Dec. 16.

"Tribe Time is our caregiver parent support group where we are gathering our community, our baby shower participants together and just creating a support group around them," said Icyreen Ford, Change Today, Change Tomorrow base building organizer.

The Ruckers said they're grateful for this resource.

“They're doing a lot to impact just from the baby showers, the food drives, groceries, everything," Emmanual said. "I love it; I love coming, and I love helping out, as well as taking advantage of the benefits that they offer."

According to Change Today, Change Tomorrow’s 2022 Impact Report, the nonprofit helps around 1,200 people every month with food supplies. It added it helped hundreds monthly with health needs, too.
