LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Food lovers rejoice, a staple “from scratch” spot in Louisville has reopened after a three-year hiatus. In Early October, the Sullivan Bakery welcomed back customers with a new direction.

What You Need To Know

  • The Sullivan Bakery reopened in early October

  • It is located on Sullivan University’s main campus in Louisville

  • The menu features an assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries

  • Running the kitchen is a former Sullivan University student

Previously known for its cakes, the bakery has a new focus on fresh-baked breads and pastries.

Running the reopened kitchen is Teeylah Webster. Webster is a Sullivan graduate and brings with her over a decade of culinary experience.

She’s now using what she has learned over the years to teach the next generation of chefs. Along with the bakery’s paid staff, students who are finishing their schooling at Sullivan have the chance to intern there.

“I want to ease you into it and show you this is how you do it. If you make a mistake, tell me, let’s fix it. I’m not going to yell at you for making a mistake. Your mistakes are how you learn,” Webster said.

The bakery’s menu also reflects the food students learn to make in Sullivan’s culinary program.

“Every kitchen operates differently. Every chef is different, and we want to make sure that you’re prepared for that real world setting,” Webster said.

Webster adds she feels at home “within these walls”, something that makes her perfect for her new role.

The Sullivan Bakery is open daily except on Sundays.
