KENTUCKY — There are a total of nine retail sports betting brick-and-mortar locations across Kentucky that celebrated the rollout of sports wagering at their facilities on Thursday, Sept. 7.
That includes:
- Churchill Downs
- Derby City Gaming
- Mint Gaming Hall Cumberland
- Ellis Park
- Red mile
- Sandy's Racing and Gaming
- Newport Racing and Gaming
- Turfway Park
- Oak Grove Racing, Gaming
According to House Bill 551, bettors can now make wagers on the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NCAA sports, like football, basketball and baseball.

Andy Beshear, D-Ky. placed the first sports bet at historic Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, fulfilling a pledge that his administration would launch sports wagering in time for the NFL regular season.
Around the same time, about a group of about a dozen mostly Republican lawmakers held their own legislative launch event at Red Mile Gaming and Racing in Lexington to celebrate sports betting beginning in the Commonwealth.
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission is in charge of regulations and licensing of sports betting.
The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling phone number is 1-800-426-2537. According to House Bill 551, 2.5% of sports gambling revenue will be dedicated to problem gambling.
