“Our vision exists to assist our veterans seeking faith-based discipleship to further their transformation and recovery from various life events as a result of their complex traumas,” said the organization’s president, Virginia Dial, in a legislative committee meeting.

The organization has purchased 20 acres of land in Somerset and wants to build over two dozen tiny homes, providing temporary transitional housing for veterans, including some in recovery, Dial said.

“The ranch will be a living, breathing, therapeutic, tiny house community that will be self-governed by veterans for veterans during their one-year residency,” she told lawmakers.

Veterans would rent the 400 square-foot homes on the working ranch and have access to mental health services, community activities and training opportunities, according to Dial.

The nonprofit is asking lawmakers for $1.5 million in funding and hopes to open the ranch in late spring of 2024.
