LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While many spent the Fourth of July at home, others ventured out to enjoy the many events happening across the state, including in Louisville.

What You Need To Know

  • Louisville-based small business owners spent the Fourth of July selling their products at an outdoor market

  • It was held at Paristown Hall ahead of a concert and fireworks show

  • Vendors who took part say despite the heat, turnout was great

Tuesday, dozens of local vendors set up outside of Paristown Hall for an outdoor market. The free shopping experience was open hours ahead of a concert and firework show in the afternoon.

One vendor who attended was Sarah Kinder, owner of The Kinder Artist.

“I do a lot of markets and a lot of like vendor events, so it’s really nice to see some fresh faces and people getting excited about the day,” Kinder said.

Kinder, who is normally setup in the Logan Street Market, says the crowds who came out were great, even despite the humid day. Kinder says she sells eco-friendly home decor items that have a low impact on the environment.

Other vendors sold a wide range of items, ranging from homemade jewelry, to honey, to vintage records.

Attendees like Bond Miller from Bardstown came out with the whole family and enjoyed a game of ax throwing.

“Oh, it’s awesome, trying to beat the young guy throwing axes but I guess the young prevail,” Miller joked. “Us old guys can’t throw it right, so he beat me, one point, but he beat me.”

Miller added they did all their barbecuing Monday, so today was all about checking out the city.

“We’re going to look around here and we’re going to see what the sights are and then I think we’re going to go visit a ship down in Louisville. We’re going to tour that. So we’re just hanging out in Louisville for the day, enjoying the day,” Miller said.
