LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Taste of West Louisville: The Resurgence returns for the first time since 2019, hoping to attract foot traffic and business to the area.

On Sunday, nearly two dozen food vendors will gather at the Louisville Central Community Center for the event.

What You Need To Know

  • Taste of West Louisville began in 2015

  • This year, the event will return for the first time since 2019

  • Keisha Allen is the president of Uplifted Life, the nonprofit that founded the event

  • Allen says the event also doubles as a scholarship fundraiser

Keisha Allen is the president of Uplifted Life, the nonprofit that began the event in 2015. She says 65% of this year’s featured food vendors represent West Louisville. From savory to sweet, people won’t leave hungry.

“We have 19 food and beverage vendors that will be spread out around all the different booth areas. We will have two live chefs at the kiosk serving up!” said Allen.

Allen says with VIP and live chefs, 24 food vendors are represented. Businesses paid either $150-$200 to take part in the event. Allen and her team hand-selected the vendors, which means she, too, will indulge in the food options.

“I’m going to be around, tasting everything. I cannot wait for that part,” said Allen.

The event is nestled in the Russell neighborhood at the Louisville Central Community Center. And the event doubles as a scholarship fundraiser, hoping to raise five $1,000 “Beyond Books and Board” scholarships for future college students, with priority given to students in the West end. Allen struggled to afford college when she was younger, so this mission is personal.

“This is a way to give them that financial assistance, so they feel more comfortable with going away to school and not running back home so quickly,” said Allen.

Giving comfort to future college students and also shining light on West Louisville food entrepreneurs. Allen knows this is what she was destined to do.

“I want to increase the awareness for the businesses who are functioning. Also connect them to a customer base so they can see that I can bring my business to West Louisville and be successful. I’m hoping that’s what happens,” said Allen.

It’s Allen's hope it will happen now and in the future. Taste of West Louisville will happen Sunday, June 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for regular tickets and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for VIP tickets.
