LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two members of Louisville Metro Council, David James and Keisha Dorsey, have resigned and the council will now have to fill their seats.

  •  Keisha Dorsey and David James resigned from council to take leadership roles with Mayor Craig Greenberg

  •  Parrish-Wright was the only woman to run for Louisville mayor

  • Interested candidates need to submit resumes to the Metro Council clerk

James and Dorsey both accepted positions on Mayor Craig Greenberg’s leadership staff. James is now deputy mayor of emergency services and Dorsey is Greenberg’s deputy chief of staff. James represented District 6 and Dorsey District 3.

Shameka Parrish-Wright, the only woman who ran for Louisville mayor, announced on her Facebook page she will run for the District 3 seat left vacant by Dorsey. 

 

I sent my resume in for the District 3 seat and I plan to apply to run for the seat in the special election....

Parrish-Wright, a mother of six and originally from Cincinnati, has called Louisville home for over twenty years. Parrish-Wright works for The Bail Project and serves as the director of VOCAL (Voices of Community Activists and Leaders) KY, is a grassroots membership organization that helps the homeless and other marginalized populations in the state.

Metro Council has 30 days to fill the vacancies left open by James and Dorsey. Anyone interested in serving on the council needs to submit a resume by email to the Metro Council clerk. For more information about the positions and applying, you can go to Metro Council’s website.
