“One of the most important things is the quality of life project this brings to the community, focusing on the people we have in Henderson and just making lives better,” Jennifer Marks, who works with the Henderson County Planning Commission said.

The city of Henderson invested $10.5 million into the development of the complex. It’s seen as a stepping stone for the community.

“I think 30 to 40 years from now, you’re going to see not just this sportsplex grow, but so much more in the community because we have a facility like this,” Marks said.

Residents of Henderson currently use the Players, Coaches, Managers Association fields, which are over 60 years old.

“It’s just a huge opportunity to continue growing that population that we would love to do, you know, being the smaller side of the river,” Marks said.

Besides the sports complex, Henderson city officials are working on plans to build an Interstate-69 Ohio River Crossing Project. The Sports Complex is just beginning phase one and is looking for donors to help sponsor phase two.
