BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Inflation continues to affect consumers, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, November saw a decrease of prices compared to October. Still, we are days away from Christmas, which means many are still deciding to break the bank to shop for a loved one.

  • Her Bowling Green location opened in October

  • One of the store’s biggest hurdle right now is the cost of shipping

The beep of a scanner is a common sound during most holiday seasons. Brooklyn Stepp is especially thankful for this sound this year as the owner of That Buzzi B, a women’s clothing boutique in downtown Bowling Green. The name of her business suits her well, as she owns and operates two stores, lives on a farm and raises her daughter.

“By putting their soul into another small business, they are not only supporting us but our money goes right back into the town,” Stepp said.

Stepp opened the Bowling Green location of her boutique in October. She’s making sure that her customers feel valued this holiday season, even while inflation looms. “It shows our customers how much we really do care about them and it’s because of them we have stores,” Stepp said.

One of the store’s biggest hurdle right now is the cost of shipping. Stepp says that the price tag customers see is largely affected by the increased shipping cost. “So I now have to take the cost of shipping, add it into the cost of how much I have to sell that product, just to make sure I am able to run my business,” Stepp said.

Despite the expense, Stepp stays optimistic.

“I think a lot of people are really trying to shop small with us this season and not just because it’s Christmas, I think they are trying to shop small period,” Stepp said.

That Buzzi B has a location in Elizabethtown in addition to the Bowling Green store.
