LEXINGTON, Ky. — As October concludes, the Creatures’ Cauldron is adding a chilling and flavor-filled twist to Lexington’s downtown coffee scene.

What You Need To Know

  • The Creatures’ Cauldron Cafe is one of Lexington’s newest downtown beverage stops

  • Staff at the cauldron are inviting guests to experience a Halloween weekend filled with coffee and tea specials

  • The cafe is partnered with “Creatures of Whim” in Lexington

The store’s manager, Audra Jones, and her coworkers are mixing some of the cauldron’s most colorful creations. From jet-black lattes, deep reds that come from strawberry flavoring and hibiscus plants to the bright greens of apple and melon flavoring, the cafe serves spine-tingling beverages for all to enjoy.

Stirring up new recipes, the cauldron is including a surprise spin on a few traditionally fan-favorite drinks.

With a variety of teas, coffee, and a long list of ingredients to add, some of the cafe’s fall specials this month feature the “Witches Brew” and “Bat’s Blood.”

The store has even coined one drink the “Weeping Widow” for its uncanny story, according to the store manager.

“Lady Grey is a mimic of the Earl Grey tea, with a citrus take. So her husband was a sea captain and one day his ship never returned to port and so for the rest of her life she wandered down to the port to watch the ships come in hoping to see the ship and it never did so that is why we called it the Weeping Widow,” Jones said.

The Cauldron, which first opened doors this past July, sits next door to its partners, one being “Creatures of Whim,” the holistic health and spiritual wellness store. Inside both stores, guests can find and purchase teas like the Lady Gray strain.

While the cafe is currently dressed for Halloween, visitors can see the popular displays year-round from movie series like Harry Potter and more hair-raising fun.

Jones said guests typically come with a fixed experience and or drink in mind but leave with much more.

“Apart from coming for the experience, I think a lot of people come for the fun drinks you can’t get at the other coffee shops. Other people’s words, not mine.” Jones said.

Guests can purchase the special flavors and more on the menu throughout the fall season and beyond by asking for seasonal drink mixtures.
