PARK HILLS, Ky. — Loschiavo’s Produce and Deli has served the Park Hills community over 30 years. Like many businesses nationwide, this one has seen affects of inflation.
“I’m seeing prices I’ve never seen before,” owner Ron Nolting said.
The Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers reports a 0.4% rise in September on a seasonally adjusted basis. Nolting said prices are up all across the board for this business.
“Eggs, for instance, are higher than I’ve ever seen them,” he said.
He said inflation in recent months is something he believes could drive people to the polls.
“Because the economy is a huge issue,” he said.
He’s grateful to customers for still showing support through these tough economic times. Lois Papania recently started shopping at the store. She said navigating inflation can be tricky.
“You just have to do some research and go to the right locations.”
Papania said she likes to support “the little guy” and shops locally and thinks local small businesses are necessary in communities.
“I just think it’s important that small businesses stay in business just so that you have more competition and people have more options,” she said.
