NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Warm during the day but chilly at night — that’s what Beth White with Harvest Homecoming says is the perfect weather for a large crowd to come out and enjoy the fun.

What You Need To Know

  • Harvest Homecoming is a four-day festival in downtown New Albany

  • Over 400,000 people attended this year

  • There are over 270 vendors

  • This includes around 30 from Kentucky

“Our vendors are very happy. They’re selling product and most of them yesterday actually sold out of product so they’re very happy and I think our guests are happy,” White said.

The four-day festival in New Albany’s downtown saw over 400,000 attendees this year, on par White says with last year’s attendance. Of the festival’s over 270 vendors, around 30 are from Kentucky, including Bert’s Kitchen.

Based in Shelbyville, owner Buddy Runyon and his team have been at Harvest Homecoming for the last 37 years. Runyon says this year has been fantastic and that yesterday, they sold over 3,000 pounds of pork chops.

“You couldn’t of asked for a better weekend, everybody was out,” Runyon said.

This is the only festival he comes out to, he says, because of the outpouring of support he’s gotten over the years.

“Well, you know the people are great, crowds are always good, one year I was even here when it snowed, but it’s always been good,” Runyon said.

If you missed out on their best-selling pork chop sandwich, you’ll have to wait until next October. Festivities wrapped up Sunday night, and staff with the festival say they have already started planning for next year.
