Jessica Blankenship, Executive Director of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, said Lynn was the definition of a legend.
“Loretta Lynn is probably the main historical figure when it comes to our music,” Blankenship said.
Loretta Lynn died on Tuesday at 90. Lynn was known for her music reflecting on her background in Appalachia and her life experiences.
“Her legacy is just unbelievable. So many of us related to her music because it was real life. Whether it was love, heartache, family laugh, whether it was country, we all can resonate with that, and so she made such an impact not only on country music but all genres of music,” Blankenship said.
The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame is home to a handmade dress made by Lynn, an engraved guitar and a wall full of fond memories.
“This is Backstage, Loretta Lynn getting ready to play on the Grand Ole Opry. And then, after performing, sitting here eating with friends. And of course, she got the Coca-Cola glass bottles,” Blankenship said, walking through the exhibit.
Lynn was an inspiration to many like Blankenship, and will forever be known as someone who paved a positive light for Kentuckians working to make a name for themselves.
