“That’s almost as many families that came to us in March in 2020 when the pandemic struck,” Brunsman said.
A pandemic that’s left many people battling rising costs at the pump and inside the grocery store as well as facing supply shortages. Brunsman said their warehouse is emptied out and shelves inside the food pantry are starting to look more bare than usual. They’ve now maxed out their agency food pantry budget for the year, a $135,000 budget. That’s concerning as they head into the holidays, a big quarter for them, where a lot of people are in need.
“The stock that we have in this pantry is just about enough stock to take care of that number of families, maybe a little bit less for a month,” he said.
Brunsman said this agency is in need of the community’s help.
“We don’t know if we’re going to run out of cans of corn, or cans of applesauce, or ground beef, or eggs, or lettuce so at the end of the day Be Concerned’s really in need of cash donations, monetary donations, to help us buy the things we need for our holiday quarter,” Brunsman said.
He said so many people are still struggling, despite 2020 being in the past, and Be Concerned is one of many organizations who could use a little extra help this holiday season making sure everyone in need gets some help.
