COVINGTON, Ky. — Covington City Hall sits at 20 W Pike Street and that’s where it’s been for nearly a decade now. But Mayor Joe Meyer said the city is taking steps on a new project.

What You Need To Know

  • Covington City Hall currently sits at 20 W Pike Street

  • It’s one of five temporary locations the city government has leased over the years

  • City leaders say they’re looking to create a more permanent home on Scott Street

  • They’re looking for the architectural firm that will help them build the space

“It’s time for the city to have a new permanent home,” Meyer said.

The city has been leasing out space from temporary locations for decades now and they’re looking to create a more permanent, long-term home for city hall. They’re looking for an architectural firm  to help them build on a space that sits at the 600 block of Scott Street, right by the library and post office.

“Mostly, we want to have a city hall that is clearly a home for our city government. We want a building that the people of Covington can be proud of and take advantage of and use. And we want a building designed to last for a hundred years,” Meyer said.

Meyer said the current Pike Street building was only supposed to be temporary, and they need proper space in a permanent setting.

“The issues are more of public access, adequate space and a more effective layout,” he said.

Proposals must be submitted to LJenkins@covingtonky.gov by 10 a.m. on September 22, 2022. They hope to have the architect selected by the end of the year.
