LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hebert Lee, the man suspected of shooting a Louisville Metro Police officer at Shawnee Park, is being held on $1 million cash bond.

Lee faces several charges including attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing and evading and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Lee was also shot during the incident at the park, but has recovered from his injuries.  Lee has been ordered not to have contact with the officer he's accused of shooting and cannot use or possess a firearm.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Lee on Monday, July 25.

Officer Joshua Pickering and Lee were shot during the incident. LMPD was attempting to approach Lee, who they knew had several outstanding warrants against him. When officers approached Lee, he can be seen pulling a gun and firing at officers. There were five officers, including Pickering, at the scene. A bullet hit Pickering in the chest, but he wasn’t seriously hurt because his bulletproof vest protected him.

LMPD officers can be seen firing several shots heard yelling for Lee to drop his weapon. Lee refuses to drop his gun. Lee eventually falls to the ground and officers can approach him. He has been shot and they begin trying to help him until EMS arrives.

Pickering was released from the hospital and LMPD says Lee will recover from his injuries.

The five officers at the scene have been identified as Officers Richard Williams, Daniel Burnett, Joel Voelker, Nicholas Hollkamp and Joshua Pickering. LMPD says all are paid administrative leave.

The shooting took place at Shawnee Park just as the annual Dirt Bowl was wrapping up. Kentucky State Police is handling the investigation. LMPD has said Lee will face several charges including attempted murder of a police officer.
