LOUSIVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky State Fair is a little more than a month away, but already there are deals you need to know about.
The state fair happens Aug.18-28 at the Kentucky Expo Center and draws approximately 600,000 visitors each year for food, fun, exhibits and other entertainment. Right now fans can buy early bird tickets through Aug. 5 for $8 per person including parking. Admission at the gate is $10 per person and $10 parking per standard vehicle.
The Kentucky State Fair has announced a series of special days at the fair you might want to save the date for.
Sunday, Aug. 21—Military Sunday at the Kentucky State Fair
Active, retired military, veterans and their families get in free on Aug. 21 with military ID. There is a limit of four passes and parking is not included. Wristbands for Thrill Ville, you might know it better as the midway, will be discounted 20% and available on-site only at the Kissel Welcome Center. All taking advantage of this special day must show their military ID and have all family members with them when they are buying tickets. There is a limit 6 wristbands per valid military personnel ID.
During the Oak Ridge Boys’ concert on Aug. 21, there will be a special ceremony honoring the military. The concert is at 8 p.m. at the Texas Roadhouse Concert series, which is in Parking Lot L.
Monday, Aug. 22 —$5 Monday at the Kentucky State Fair
Those looking for a big bargain won’t want to miss $5 Monday. This is a new special day for 2022. The fair is hoping to help everyone avoid the Monday blues. The $5 admission per person includes parking. Fairgoers can catch the World’s Championship Horse Show. Guests can pick up free tickets to the horse show at the Kentucky Expo Center’s box office on Aug. 22.
Tuesday, Aug. 23—Senior Day at the Kentucky State Fair
Tuesday, Aug. 23 is Senior Day at the Kentucky State Fair. Anyone ages 55 and over will receive free gate admission. Parking is not included. It is $10 per car. There will be all-day bunco and bingo in Heritage Hall.
Wednesday, Aug. 24—Sensory Awareness Day at the Kentucky State Fair
The Kentucky State Fair and Kissel Entertainment are partnering with FEAT of Louisville, Home of the Innocents and Kentucky Autism Training Center to distribute free admission and midway tickets to family and fairgoers with sensory processing differences. From 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.,the midway will operate with minimal lights and music during that time to create an enjoyable fair experience for those with sensory sensitivities.
