LOUISVILLE, Ky. — UPS delivers roughly 25 million packages a day. On Thursday, the company made a special delivery that will help families across the country.

UPS partnered with the Biden administration’s Operation Fly Baby Formula to deliver 44,000 pounds of Nestle baby formula or 548,000 8-ounce bottle servings from Switzerland. 

The formula will continue on to hospitals, home health companies, and WIC (Women, Infants and Children) programs. 

Antrell Tyson with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it was special to witness.

“I have a 5-year-old son. He needed a specialty formula so I can imagine what many families are going through not being able to have access to that formula that their family needs,” says Tyson.

Tyson says Operation Fly Formula would not be possible without private partners like UPS. 

The shipping company says taking part in the unique opportunity to fulfill its mission of delivering what matters. 

“I know for UPSers around the world, we’re just full of pride because we get to showcase what we do best while serving others,” says UPS Vice President of Flight Operations Capt. Houston Mills. 

The shipment is the seventh Operation Fly Formula mission, but the first delivered by UPS

UPS says it will stand ready to provide additional help the department may need. 

By June 19, Operation Fly Formula flights will have imported nearly 13 million servings of infant formula according to the White House.
