  • 67th annual Pegasus Parade was held Sunday afternoon

  • First normal parade since the beginning of the pandemic

  • This year's theme was ‘Loving Louisville'

  • Event held on new date this year

The 67th Pegasus Parade is one of many events that lead up to the Kentucky Derby. This is the first time since the beginning of the pandemic that the event has been held in its normal location.

"Oh, I’m pumped. Beautiful weather, beautiful atmosphere, perfect conditions for a parade,” Brian Mucker said.

Mucker and his family try to make it out to the Pegasus Parade every year.  He says with the return of the event, things are starting to feel a little bit more like they used to.

"We’ve been hunkered down with the coronavirus for two years, and now we are back outside just enjoying ourselves. Family and friends, this is awesome,” Mucker said.

Typically the Parade is on the Thursday before Derby, but this year it was held five days before the race.

With fantastic weather Sunday, a big turnout was not a problem. Just about every inch of the sidewalk was occupied with happy faces.

This year’s theme was ‘Loving Louisville', celebrating the people who make the city great.

With dancing, fun costumes, and many performances, there was plenty of fun for everyone. Plus, the end of the parade means we're one day closer to Derby Day.
