TAYLOR COUNTY, Ky. — Just three weeks after Taylor County felt the aftermath of the EF-3 tornado, now they’re faced with another storm that hit even closer to home.
A Taylor County home once had a loving couple living under its roof, now Ronald and Trisha Morgan are just thankful that roof kept them safe through the most recent storm.
“I was back here in my bedroom, Trisha came in and hollered to get up, now, go to the basement so I started down the hallway,” Morgan said.
Morgan never imagined starting the new year like this, taking cover in the basement of their home from the EF-1 tornado that blew through Taylor County.
“When I came down I went over to the washer and dryer, she was back in this area back over here and then I walked back to the doors back here and was watching stuff blow around and you can see water standing back over here now,” Morgan said.
Morgan could feel the winds that were as fast as 110 miles per hour and so did their house, their roof is now completely gone.
“Saw all of this, turned around, looked up at my house, saw this, nothing and I thought that's what that was a while ago when I started down the steps,” Morgan said.
But for now, Morgan is removing what's salvageable and is just thankful he and his wife are alive.
“Trying to clean up some of the stuff, trying to get things moved out of the house hoping we can save some of it, I don't know there's been a lot of water in there so I don't know if anything is any good or not, see what happens next,” Morgan said.
Morgan does not have plans to rebuild and is currently staying with family until he can make other arrangements.
The National Weather Service will assess damages and conduct surveys in Logan County on Monday.
