LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville men's basketball coach Chris Mack and Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio cut the ribbon on the latest "Coach Mack's Corner" at Byck Elementary.

The Mack Family Foundation partners with schools in the area to install state-of-the-art reading rooms. The reading area at Byck is the sixth one in Louisville. The Foundation renovates an area within the school's library and provides more than 600 age-appropriate books, children's magazines, new seating areas and of course UofL basketball-themed wall graphics.

The other Louisville schools benefiting from "Coach Mack's Corner" are:

  • Crums Lane Elementary
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary
  • Whitney M. Young Elementary
  • Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School
  • Frayser Elementary School

The Mack Family Foundation was founded in 2016 when Mack was at Xavier University. There are also reading corners at five Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky schools. They are:

  • Mary A. Goetz Elementary
  • Pleasant Hill Academy
  • Rockdale Academy Elementary
  • North College Hill Elementary
  • Ethel M. Taylor Elementary

The Mack Family Foundation focuses on providing food security, educational opportunities and increasing literacy for inner-city elementary students. Mack has been the head coach at UofL since 2018.
