LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Saturday night was one for the history books for Racing Louisville FC. The Derby City's professional women's soccer club secured the inaugural Women's Cup championship in a win over FC Bayern Munich.

With the score tied 2-2 as time expired, the winner was decided in a tense penalty kick (PK) shootout. After Racing edged out their opponents 7-6, the crowd at Lynn Family Stadium erupted with vibrant cheers and flashing lights.

The PK shootout extended past the standard set of 10 as the squads remained tied. It came down to the goalkeepers in the end, as Racing's Katie Lund netted her shot and saved her opponent's attempt to clinch the win.

Scoring in standard time for Racing Louisville were Jorian Baucom and Yuki Nagasato. Bayern saw goals from Buhl and an unfortunate Racing Louisville own goal.

The Women's Cup win is monumental for Racing Louisville FC, a young team in the midst of its first season as a National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) expansion club.

Paris Saint-German and the Chicago Red Stars also competed in the four-team cup, with PSG besting Chicago in the third place match Saturday afternoon.
