LEXINGTON, Ky.- Excitement was in the air this morning as Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) started its new school year in person today.
As summer comes to an end, Alena Glass and her two daughters Addison and Savanna are ready for their first day of seventh and eighth grade.
“They both been through so much, and I'm just so glad I wish I could be in the classroom to see them come together and interact because I know they have great teachers and great principals,” Glass said.
Addison says she’s excited to be back in person. Looking forward to hanging out with her friends in class, and being able to interact with teachers.
“I can talk to my teacher and then ask them questions personally, and online, you can't really have that, you rarely do that online,” Addison Glass said.
Addison and Savannah say as they were getting ready for the school year, things still felt different. Shopping for items like backpacks, notebooks, and pencils, one additional item on the list this year was a mask.
“So, we had to go back to school shopping but there was not very much stuff this year because of like COVID There's still not very much stuff on the list,” Glass said.
The girls say they don’t mind wearing a mask if it means they can be back in person and make memories in the classroom this school year.
